A couple of days ago ended Maslenitsa week in the country where I am from, during this holiday I tried to represent the main elements of Maslenitsa!

Maslenitsa

(Belarusian: Масленіца, Russian: Мaсленица, Rusyn: Пущаня, Ukrainian: Масляна; also known as Butter Lady, Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefare Week)
--  is a Russia and Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, which has retained a number of elements of Slavic mythology in its ritual, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha.

The traditional attributes of the Maslenitsa celebration are the Maslenitsa effigy, sleigh rides, festivities. Russians bake bliny and flatbread, while Belarusians and Ukrainians cook pierogi and syrniki.

Sunday is the final day, day of forgiving – when people forgive the wrongs done against them and burn the Maslenitsa mascot, a straw doll dressed in a female costume with a pancake in her hand. This practice has become an almost iconic symbol of the festival, and the imminent end of winter.

Usually Maslenitsa lasts for seven days and on the last day of this holiday people burn a doll which is made of branches and straw and dressed in bright clothes. This doll is called “Maslenitsa” and it symbolizes the cold and severe winter. By burning “Maslenitsa” people say goodbye to winter and greet a warm spring.

This is a golden rooster, a traditional lollipop in Russia. Traditional roosters on a stick - this is one of the symbols of Maslenitsa
